About Local 2260

IAFF Local 2260, the United East Valley Fire Fighters, represents about 1,100 fire fighters and paramedics in nine East Valley departments.

Draft from the union’s current site, the IAFF and public records, checked 10/27/2026. Before it goes live, Trevyn or the board confirms: the year the local was chartered (the current site says 1973; no outside record confirms it yet), the year the name changed from United Mesa to United East Valley, the membership count, and how United Mesa Fire Fighters Charities and East Valley Firefighter Charities are related.

Who we are

Since 1973, Local 2260 has been a progressive and innovative local of the International Association of Fire Fighters. Through teamwork, community involvement and political action, we work to ensure the highest level of emergency services in every community we serve.

We started as the United Mesa Fire Fighters. Today we’re the United East Valley Fire Fighters: about 1,100 fire fighters, paramedics, engineers and captains in nine departments, from city fire departments to an independent fire district to the fire departments of three tribal nations.

Nine departments, one union

Our chapters are Mesa, Gilbert, Queen Creek, Superstition, Florence, Fountain Hills, Salt River, Gila River and Fort McDowell. Each chapter knows its own city, its own council or board and its own stations. Together we bargain for fair contracts, push for safe staffing and fire fighter health, and stand up for a secure retirement.

Part of something bigger

Local 2260 is part of the International Association of Fire Fighters, in its 10th District, and our members belong to the Professional Fire Fighters of Arizona, which has represented the state’s fire fighters at the Capitol since 1967.

Giving back

Our members give back through East Valley Firefighter Charities, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Its charity fund helps food banks, shelters and families who’ve lost their homes to fire, and its relief fund helps public safety workers and their families through a crisis. Every year it puts on the East Valley Firefighter Charities Charity Ride (the 21st ran in April 2026) and the Hook and Ladder Charity Golf Tournament (the 25th is set for December 18, 2026).
